An iPhone utility by Laud LLC

Applies to app version 0.1 (alpha) and later, unless updated

Summary

Screen2AH is a personal utility that reads the display of your workout equipment and saves your workout to Apple Health. It does not collect, transmit, sell, share, or analyze your data. Everything happens on your iPhone.

If that's all you needed to know, the rest of this page is the long version.

Who we are

Screen2AH is developed and maintained by Laud LLC, a solo engineering consultancy based in Chicago, Illinois. You can reach us at screen2ah@laud.llc.

What data Screen2AH accesses

Screen2AH works by using three iOS permissions, each of which you grant or deny individually when you first use the app.

Camera access

Screen2AH uses the camera solely to photograph the display of exercise equipment. Photos are captured on demand — the app does not record video, does not capture continuous frames, and does not access photos from your library. Captured photos never leave your device.

Apple Health (HealthKit) access

Screen2AH writes workout data — such as duration, distance, active energy burned, heart rate, and power — to Apple Health so that your workout appears alongside other data in the Health and Fitness apps. Screen2AH also reads a limited amount of existing workout data solely to avoid creating duplicate entries. Screen2AH does not read any other health information from your device.

Face ID (optional)

If you enable the "Require Face ID to open Screen2AH" setting, Screen2AH uses your device's biometric authentication to unlock the app. Biometric data itself is handled entirely by Apple and is never accessible to Screen2AH.

What data Screen2AH stores on your device

Screen2AH keeps a local record of your captured photos and the workout data extracted from them, so that you can review the history, re-extract data from a past photo, or export it. This history is stored in a private area of the app's storage on your iPhone. It is excluded from iCloud backup by design.

All local history is automatically deleted after 30 days. Your workout data remains in Apple Health for as long as you keep it there — that's controlled by you in the Health app, not by Screen2AH.

You can manually delete any individual history entry, or all history at once, from the Settings screen inside the app.

What Screen2AH does not do

Third parties

Screen2AH uses only frameworks provided by Apple as part of iOS: Vision for text recognition, HealthKit for workout data, AVFoundation for camera, and LocalAuthentication for Face ID. No third-party SDKs are included.

Data written to Apple Health is governed by Apple's own privacy policy, available at apple.com/legal/privacy.

Children

Screen2AH is not directed at children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not use this app.

Your rights

Because Screen2AH does not collect or transmit your data, most data-protection frameworks (GDPR, CCPA, and similar) do not create ongoing obligations for us — there is no server-side data to request, correct, or delete. Data stored on your device is entirely under your control:

Changes to this policy

If we ever change how Screen2AH handles your data, we will update this policy and change the "Last updated" date above. Because Screen2AH does not collect email addresses or other contact information, we have no way to notify you directly — please check this page if you want to see the current policy. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
